What is Recess?

Recess is a modern framework written in PHP.  It has taken inspiration from the popular MVC frameworks of our day, including Ruby on Rails and Django. It was designed to require PHP5 so that it could be as beautiful as PHP allows.

Who is responsible for Recess?

Recess is the brain-child of Kris Jordan. Kris got his start with PHP, but has ventured to other languages and returned many times. His love for PHP is completely nostalgic and never religious.  He believes that a good framework should incorporate the best ideas from all sources but have the flavor of the language it is written in. Kris holds a Masters Degree in Computer Science from Brown University and a BS in CS from UNC Chapel Hill.

Recess went into a Public Preview (fancy name for the gap between Alpha/Beta) on December 25th, 2008 - you can download Recess and join the Preview Program.
